Meet the Team

  • Natalya McConnell

    Natalya McConnell (She/Her) has been organizing since the age of 11. She has since collected thousands of signatures for different causes, organized many climate walkouts and a BLM protest culminating in the removal of cops from schools, fought for gender equity in sports and served as her high school’s class president for 2 years. Recently, she co-founded the Seattle Student Union. She’s proud of her south end heritage and excited to be serving on the SSU exec board.

  • Fatra Hussein

    Fatra Hussein (she/her) is a junior at Franklin High School and is an active member of the Seattle Student Union. Over this time, she has organized protests and walkouts, focusing on issues related to student rights and human rights. Her activism extends throughout the South Seattle community, where she consistently works to raise awareness and inspire change. She is deeply committed to continuing her efforts driven by a passion for equity and justice.  She hopes to further continue the fight for all rights.

  • Charlotte Ortega

    Charlotte Ortega (she/her) is a junior at Lincoln High School. She has served as an Executive Board Member since August 2024. She is thrilled to be leading the Lincoln Seattle Student Union chapter. Charlotte decided to join after the shooting at Garfield High School, motivated to get involved in the movement to end gun violence. Charlotte is dedicated to advocating for mental health and mentorship resources for all students. At SSU, she is working to develop a podcasting platform for students to speak up about issues impacting their communities.

  • Leo Falit-Baiamonte

    Leo Falit-Baiamonte (he/him) is a sophomore at Nathan Hale High School. He serves as an executive board member of the SSU, and he joined in August of 2024. He also is on his school's senate where he sees firsthand how the school's budget is made. He is particularly concerned with how social science classes are undervalued the school district’s neglect of students at lower income schools. Leo has joined SSU to advocate for educational justice and ensure every student has equal access to education.

  • Noir Goldberg

    Noir Goldberg (She/They) is a junior at Ballard High School. She has been a member of Seattle Student Union since January of 2022, and currently serves as an executive board member. After working with Students Against Sexual Assault, they were inspired to join the union as a way to the fight for change within the school district and beyond. Noir works with press, social media outreach, communications and organizing. She is a strong advocate for youth voices.

  • C Maker-Witucki

    C Makar-Witucki (he/him) is a senior at Ingraham High School. He serves as an executive board member and joined in November 2022, following the shooting at his school. C has been passionate about activism since elementary school and is deeply grateful for the empowerment SSU has provided. He mainly works with press, community outreach, and volunteer recruitment.
